Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a general maintenance worker to repair and perform minor preventive maintenance on equipment and to assist in housekeeping, cleaning, painting and carpentry around campus facilities.

The role includes snow removal, room setup, and adhering to cleaning instructions. Candidates should have high school education with trades experience; CDL and pre-employment checks apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year commercial trades/maintenance experience.
• Associate’s degree in a relevant trades field preferred.

Job description

Repairs and performs minor preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment. Performs a variety of duties in and around buildings and grounds. Performs assignments such as light bulb change and fixture and equipment cleaning, painting, carpentry: assists maintenance personnel and other workers with their tasks or projects. Perform building snow removal as required. Performs housekeeping and janitorial duties to maintain offices, restrooms and public areas in a clean and orderly condition. Mixes cleaning solutions to appropriate strength. Removes trash from offices and lobby areas. Perform room set ups and strikes. Follows established routine. Ability to read and understand cleaning instructions and information. Other duties as assigned.
