Job summary

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a Building/Grounds Attendant for the Lied Center for Performing Arts. The 5:00pm–2:00am shift covers maintenance, cleaning, and general grounds work to keep facilities safe and welcoming.

Responsibilities include minor repairs, painting and carpentry support, snow removal, janitorial duties, and assisting maintenance personnel. Ideal candidates lift up to 50 lbs; an associate’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus one year of maintenance experience.
• General knowledge across plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Ability to read cleaning chemicals and dilution ratios.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Assists maintenance personnel with tasks and projects; light carpentry, painting, fixture work.
• Performing building snow removal as required; janitorial duties in offices/restrooms and public areas.
• Performs room set-ups and strikes; follows established routines.

Description Of Work

Repairs and performs minor preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment. Performs a variety of duties in and around buildings and grounds. Performs assignments such as light bulb change and fixture and equipment cleaning, painting, carpentry: assists maintenance personnel and other workers with their tasks or projects. Perform building snow removal as required. Performs housekeeping and janitorial duties to maintain offices, restrooms and public areas in a clean and orderly condition. Mixes cleaning solutions to appropriate strength. Removes trash from offices and lobby areas. Perform room set ups and strikes. Follows established routine. Ability to read and understand cleaning instructions and information. Other duties as assigned.
