Job summary

Howard Hughes Communities in Columbia, MD is seeking a Building Engineer to inspect and maintain building systems across office and retail properties, including parking structures. You will work with outside contractors on construction, maintenance, and other projects, aided by budgeting and procurement support.

The role requires a High School diploma, Maryland Grade 3 Stationary Engineer license, and 2–8 years of facility maintenance experience.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
HVAC-Refrigerant Universal CFC certified.
Maryland Stationary Engineer's license, Grade 3.
Minimum 2–8 years Facility Maintenance or Trade/Field related experience.
OSHA Standards; NFPA Standards.

Responsibilities

Diagnose issues with building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and perform maintenance/repairs.
Respond to after-hours emergency calls portfolio-wide on a rotating basis.
Maintain and repair tenant and common HVAC systems.
Estimate cost of work for budgetary purposes and obtain materials.
Maintain fire and life safety standards and MSDS manuals.
Work with outside contractors on projects and safety inspections.
Ensure Preventative Maintenance schedules are followed.
Interact with tenants to address maintenance issues.
Perform general maintenance throughout common areas.
