Job summary

Avison Young in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Building Engineer responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of mechanical equipment and building systems in commercial real estate. You will support ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to work orders to ensure continuous operations.

The role requires a strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, ability to read blueprints, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic knowledge of computer and ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, maintains, and installs machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous operations.
• Performs maintenance on utility systems to provide continuous heat, steam, electricity, gas, or air as required.
• Assists in preventive maintenance programs with engineering staff.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with standards.
• Responds to work orders; supports safety procedures and equipment usage.
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and drawings; follow written instructions.
