Job summary

Ableserve is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to operate and support HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems across facilities in Wittmann, AZ. The role requires hands-on experience with boilers, chillers, air compressors and building automation systems, plus the ability to read schematics.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of relevant work experience, a stationary engineer license or equivalent, and be able to perform physically demanding tasks and on-call work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; trade school certification or equivalent apprenticeship is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience as a building engineer or in commercial/industrial facilities maintenance.
• Valid stationary engineer license or equivalent certification; boiler operator license is a plus depending on building class.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, boilers, chillers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.

Responsibilities

• Operate or assist in operating heating and ventilating equipment, engines, turbines, motors, pumps, air compressors, ice/refrigerating machines.
• Operate or assist with air conditioning units, fans, siphons; respond to on-call or after-hours emergencies.

Job description

The Building Engineer is qualified to operate or assist in operating all
heating and ventilating equipment, engines, turbines, motors, combustion engines, pumps, air
compressors, ice and refrigerating machines, air conditioning units, fans and siphons on the site
assigned.

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a building engineer, stationary engineer, or in commercial/industrial facilities maintenance, with hands-on work across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Licensure/Certification: Valid stationary engineer license or equivalent trade certification as required by local/state jurisdiction (e.g., Universal EPA 608 Refrigerant Certification for refrigerant handling); boiler operator license a plus depending on building class.
• Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, refrigeration equipment, air compressors, pumps, and building automation/control systems, including the ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing/walking for extended periods, with availability for on-call or after-hours emergency response.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school certification, technical degree, or equivalent apprenticeship training in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
