Harbor Group Management Company is seeking a Building Engineer to operate and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems in a large Class A office building in Herndon, VA. You will work under the Chief Engineer to optimize life expectancy and efficiency while delivering reliable service to tenants.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of building engineering experience, strong HVAC knowledge, and a willingness to be on call.

Qualifications

• 2 years of technical experience in building engineering.
• Strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical maintenance skills.
• Universal CFC recovery certification preferred.
• On-call availability required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC and MEP equipment under Chief Engineer.
• Develop positive tenant relations through prompt responses.
• Maintain building functions per Chief Engineer guidance.
• Respond calmly in emergencies.
• Assist compliance with safety and environmental laws.

Building Engineer

Location: One Dulles Tower, Herndon, VA

Compensation: Hourly rate will be based on experience and qualification match. Position is eligible for discretionary bonus.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for operating, inspecting and maintaining all HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety equipment and systems in a large Class A office building and obtaining the most efficient operating results and life expectancy, under the guidance and direction of the Chief Engineer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates and maintains all HVAC and MEP equipment under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Develops and maintains positive tenant relations through prompt, courteous response to tenant requests.
• Operates equipment as necessary within the guidelines set forth by the Chief Engineer to assure proper building functions.
• Maintains professional appearance and manner at all times while in the complex.
• Maintains calm demeanor in emergency situations.
• Assists in complying with all City, State and Federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards and regulations.
• Performs general maintenance and limited operations of the HVAC and MEP equipment under the supervision and direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Assists in the ordering, stocking and inventory of parts and supplies as directed by the Chief Engineer.
• Induces water treatment chemicals in the heating and cooling systems at the proper amounts and times.
• Performs chemical analysis tests as set forth by the supervisor, reporting any abnormalities and substandard results
• Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on building and tenant mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, equipment, and other components.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 Years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering.
• Strong background in technical aspects of HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment, repair and maintenance and overall system design and application.
• Prefer a Universal CFC recovery certification.
• Must be willing to work on call as needed.
