Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Building Energy Specialist to join the Technical Services team in a hybrid role based in the Tampa office. The role focuses on optimizing existing buildings’ energy efficiency and over sees asset databases, client reports, and project delivery.

You will lead field surveys, analyze facility data, benchmark against standards, and stay current with industry trends while supporting organizational plans that save energy and utilities.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, Environmental Science or equivalent field of study or equivalent work experience required.
• High-level understanding of commercial buildings' HVAC, lighting, controls, and envelope desired.
• Experience in energy management, HVAC commissioning, and/or data analysis preferred.
• Hands-on operator-level experience with building automation systems is desired.
• Experience with client-facing project delivery preferred.
• Experience working in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in on-site field surveys and evaluation of existing building systems.
• Analyze energy use data and benchmark facilities against standards.
• Develop Asset Database and Client Reports, provide follow-up consulting.
• Provide direction on projects and oversee assignments within the team.
