Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Building Energy Specialist in Tampa, a hybrid on-site role with our Technical Services team. You’ll lead field surveys, analyze building systems, and create asset databases and client reports to drive energy savings.

You will benchmark energy use, stay current on industry guidelines, and support clients with plans to optimize operations and improve occupant comfort. A strong emphasis on sustainability and collaboration drives this role.

Qualifications

• High-level understanding of commercial buildings’ HVAC, lighting, controls, and envelope.
• Experience in energy management, HVAC commissioning, and/or data analysis.
• Hands-on operator-level experience with building automation systems.
• Experience with client-facing project delivery.
• Experience working in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in multi-site field surveys and evaluate existing building systems.
• Develop Asset Database and Client Reports, with follow-up consulting.
• Analyze energy use data and benchmark facilities against standards.
• Stay current on industry trends and guidelines; assist in organizational planning for energy efficiency.
• Support clients in optimizing building operations to generate energy savings.
