Red Oak Behavioral Health is an accredited non-profit organization dedicated to providing behavioral health services to the Greater Akron community since 1963. With nearly 80 licensed clinicians and 45 case managers, the agency serves around 4,000 individuals with mental health disorders annually. Accredited by Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services and COA, Red Oak is a vital part of the social services network in Greater Akron.
Role Description
The Building Custodian position can be either full-time or part-time. The Building Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the building, its furnishings, equipment, and grounds are regularly cleaned and maintained in good and safe working order.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of building facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
- Participate in and assist with the proper maintenance of all agency property, including buildings, grounds, equipment, and other items as necessary.
- Complete daily preventative maintenance activities, including walk-through inspections of the facility and grounds, reporting any unusual activity or conditions to agency leadership immediately.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of the building infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other structural systems, to ensure all remain safe and in good working condition.
- Assist with minor plumbing and carpentry tasks as needed.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Support special events and facility maintenance as required.
Education
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Any combination of experience, education, and/or training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building maintenance or custodial work.
- Must possess or obtain OSHA 10 Card.
- Ability to read and write in English; communicate and understand ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to respectfully communicate with agency staff and the general public and establish effective working relationships.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Mechanically inclined and able to perform minor unskilled and semi-skilled interior building maintenance.
- Hold a valid Ohio driver's license and meet agency requirements for driving insurability, if applicable.
- Willing and able to work in inclement weather.
