Job summary

Mead School District is seeking a Building Computer Technician II to provide friendly end-user technical support and assist with district technology initiatives. The role reports to the Director of Technology Services and runs Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with 260 workdays.

The position involves installing and configuring computers, printers, and mobile devices on the District LAN, supporting Windows 11, macOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and Chrome OS, and maintaining network cabling and IP/MAC

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Vendor certifications preferred (e.g. CISCO, Comp TIA A+, Network+, HP Service, Apple Service, etc.).
  • Two years' experience providing technical support services preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of PC and Apple hardware and peripherals, setup, operation and maintenance.
  • Experience in supporting technology on wide area networks.
  • Expertise with Windows 11, macOS, iPadOS, tvOS and Chrome OS.
  • Expertise in supporting wired and wireless networking protocols.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and resolve problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end users.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff in schools and departments.
  • Install and configure computers, printers and mobile devices on the District's LAN.
  • Install software on workstations including stand-alone and server-based client apps.
  • Perform hardware upgrades for client devices and district printers/copiers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain computers, printers/copiers, and mobile devices.
  • Record, log and resolve issues in the online work order system.
  • Track repair parts to complete work orders.
  • Install network cable terminations and connectors; troubleshoot cabling.
  • Install wireless access points and switches on the District LAN.
  • Maintain tracking of IP and MAC addresses.
  • Assist in asset tracking and inventory maintenance.
  • Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
  • Provide district computer users with support/recommendations and instruction.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Services.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Technology Computer Technician provides friendly technical support to end users and assists with the implementation of District technology initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Technology Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide technical support to end-users.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff in schools and departments.
  • Install and configure computers, printers and mobile devices on the District's LAN.
  • Install software on workstations including stand-alone applications and server-based client applications.
  • Perform hardware upgrades related to client computers and district printers/copiers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain computers, printers/copiers, and mobile devices (laptops, Chromebooks, etc.)
  • Operate within an online work order system to consistently record, log, and resolve technical issues.
  • Track repair parts to complete work orders.
  • Install network cable terminations & connectors and trouble-shoot networking cabling system.
  • Install network wireless access points and switches on the Districts' LAN.
  • Maintain tracking of network protocols including IP and MAC addresses.
  • Assist in asset tracking and inventory maintenance.
  • Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
  • Provide district computer users with support/recommendations and instruction as necessary.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Vendor certifications preferred (e.g. CISCO, Comp TIA A+, Network+, HP Service, Apple Service, etc.).
  • Two years' experience providing technical support services preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of PC and Apple computer hardware and peripheral devices as related to their setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Experience in supporting technology running on wide area networks.
  • Expertise in client systems running Windows 11, macOS, iPad OS, tv OS and Chrome OS.
  • Expertise in supporting networking protocols including both wired and wireless.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and resolve problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive and willing attitude while working with staff.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:

The salary range for this position is:Min: $27.01 - Max: $30.89 unless otherwise noted within the contract. Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position.
