Job summary

City of University City is seeking a Multi-Discipline Inspector to assure safe buildings and communities. The role involves office and field inspections, plan review, and public-facing duties while upholding ICC standards.

The Inspector will perform onsite reviews of building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, residential and fire codes, with a strong emphasis on customer service and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
• Ability to solve problems and stay composed under pressure.
• Proficient with computers; comfortable with MS Office and related software.
• Understanding of industry standards and practices is required, with ICC knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects construction work to ensure health, safety, and welfare of the public.
• Addresses concerns of architects, engineers, contractors, residents, and staff.
• Conducts onsite inspections for compliance with municipal codes and related ordinances.
• Reviews plans for code compliance before construction starts.
• Completes daily reports and maintains up‑to‑date files on inspections.
