Job summary

The City of Brownsville invites applications for a Combination Inspector who will help maintain building and construction safety by enforcing a broad range of codes and ordinances. You will inspect structures to ensure compliance with adopted Building Codes and Standards, capable of handling residential and commercial properties of any size under general supervision.

• Bachelor's degree (no experience), or associate's degree plus two years of experience, or high school graduation or GED plus four years of experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Enforce building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, gas and property maintenance codes and ordinances.
• Inspect structures to determine compliance with Building Codes and Standards adopted by the City of Brownsville.
• Inspect residential and commercial structures of any size or occupancy.
• Perform inspections under general supervision and develop work methods and sequences.
