Job summary

The Town of Collierville is hiring an Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical – Building Inspector to join our Building & Codes team. You will inspect buildings during construction, alteration, and repair to ensure compliance with applicable codes, review trades at key stages, and coordinate with contractors and owners to resolve violations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with technical/college courses in building construction, electrical, mechanical or structural areas
• Five years experience in the building construction industry or code enforcement
• Three of the five years in the assigned area (electrical, plumbing, or mechanical)
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain ICC certifications within 12 months

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings during construction, alteration, and repair for compliance with building, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC codes
• Review work of trades at key construction stages to ensure plans and codes are met
• Coordinate with contractors and property owners to interpret codes and resolve violations
• Inspect existing dwellings/properties to ensure ongoing compliance with Town codes
