REACH Academy Charter School is seeking a dependable, flexible, and student-centered Building Substitute Teacher to join our team for the remainder of the 26-27 school year. This is a full-time position designed to provide consistent instructional coverage throughout our Elementary and Middle Schools in grades K-8.
The Building Substitute Teacher will report to school each day and will be assigned to classrooms based on the needs of the school. Assignments may include general education classrooms, special education classrooms, and special-area classes such as Physical Education, Art, Technology, or other instructional areas.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, confident working with students of varying ages and abilities, and able to quickly step into different classroom environments while maintaining REACH Academy's expectations for instruction, behavior, and school culture.

Provide substitute teaching coverage for classrooms in grades K-8 as assigned by school administration.
Provide coverage across a variety of subject areas and classroom settings, including general education, special education, and special-area classes such as PE, Art, Technology, and other courses.
Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher whenever available.
Deliver instruction and support students in completing assigned academic work.
Maintain a safe, structured, positive, and productive classroom environment.
Implement REACH Academy's classroom management practices, behavioral expectations, and schoolwide procedures.
Maintain high expectations for student behavior, participation, and academic effort.
Adapt quickly to different grade levels, subjects, schedules, and classroom environments.
Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, interventionists, administrators, and other school staff.
Provide additional instructional, behavioral, or supervisory support when classroom coverage is not needed.
Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, transitions, assemblies, or other school activities as assigned.
Become familiar with schoolwide routines, emergency procedures, student expectations, and building procedures.
Maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Build positive and respectful relationships with students and staff.
Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the school.
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Ability and willingness to work with students across grades K-8.
Ability to provide coverage in a variety of subjects and classroom settings.
Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Flexibility and the ability to adjust assignments throughout the school day when necessary.
Commitment to maintaining high expectations for all students.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
Preferred:
New York State teacher certification or eligibility for certification; certification is preferred but not required.
Previous teaching, substitute teaching, student teaching, or other school-based experience.
Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
Experience supporting students with diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
