Building Automation System Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Sequence Testing: Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications, detect and locate malfunctions, and review project plans to understand scope.
• Point‑to‑Point Verification: Test components for proper functioning, diagnose and analyze performance of system components, assemblies, or whole systems, set up and operate standard or specialized testing equipment, and ensure sensor location and functionality.
• Project Graphics: Create wiring diagrams, design schematics, or system dashboards; present designs and reports to customers, design engineers, or consultants for approval and discuss necessary modifications; design images/maps of controlled systems within a building.
• Repairs/Service: Repair or replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts; discuss malfunctions with users to isolate problems and verify repairs; recommend and perform preventive or general maintenance (cleaning, tightening terminals, vacuuming control panels); advise others on repairs, installation, or equipment design; troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions while recommending efficiency or quality improvements.
• Adjustments: Adjust system controls or equipment settings (e.g., thermostats) to ensure optimal performance per manufacturer recommendations.
• Documentation: Record and report time, materials, faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences on work orders; complete customer service and expense reports; compile documentation such as certificates of completion, training forms, and punch lists; provide sketches or drawings for accurate project documentation.
• Training: Instruct individuals on proper use of tools and equipment, explain how to implement ideas, guide daily tasks, and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality.
