Job summary

Florida Department of Management Services is seeking a Controls Systems Operator to monitor and control HVAC and building automation systems at the Building Operations Centers across the Florida Facilities Pool. The role requires shift work, after-hours responsiveness, and coordination with facility staff and vendors.

Primary duties include maintaining system set points, responding to alarms, and documenting incidents per SOP.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Familiarity with the terminology and operation of industrial HVAC equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Flexibility to work consecutive 10 and 12-hour shifts, overnight, on weekends and on State holidays, as needed.
• Aptitude to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor chiller, boiler, and Air Handling Unit status and associated alarms.
• Report on off-normal equipment conditions to facility management staff.
• Execute SOPs and respond to alarms in accordance with SOP.
• Use BAS schedules and notification procedures for after-hours and emergencies.
• Document events in daily logs and coordinate with facility management staff and vendors.
