Job summary

Stantec's Buildings team in the United States (Chicago) seeks an Automation Designer to perform basic technical and project management duties under supervision. The role develops Building Automation designs for clients and works with senior engineers to deliver solutions that meet project scope and budget.

The candidate should have 4+ years in automation design, experience with DDC/BAS for HVAC, and familiarity with CAD/Revit.

Qualifications

Bachelor or master degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in automation design and consulting for tenant improvements, new construction, central plants, or upgrades.
PE license is a bonus.
Experience with DDC/BAS for HVAC systems and/or EPMS.

Responsibilities

Develops Building Automation design and assessment opportunities for clients to grow Automation Team.
Develops advanced systems designs within own discipline with minimal supervision and provides solutions to technical problems.
Collaborates with the senior project engineer to prepare deliverables per client scope.
Follows the quality management process and reviews deliverables before QA/QC.
Supports project management tasks, planning within timeline and budget and coordinating with other disciplines.
Understands and communicates the company’s service offerings to clients.
Meets utilization goals and adheres to budget.
Identifies roadblocks and coordinates priorities to maintain scope and schedule.
Learns the company’s accounting and project management systems.
Participates in professional activities to grow knowledge.
