Job summary

Trane Technologies in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Controls Engineering Specialist II to design hardware and software for building automation systems. You will apply engineering principles to create cost-effective control solutions and work with the project team to support the Project Manager.

The role requires a degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field (or 3+ years HVAC project experience) and familiarity with HVAC/BAS.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field or 3+ years HVAC project experience.
• Familiarity with operation and design of HVAC/BAS systems required.
• Travel to construction sites within the district may be needed.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design building controls using direct digital controls for various building types.
• Review contract documents and integrate into automation design.
• Create installation, submittal, and as-built drawings.
• Develop advanced sequences of operations meeting project requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates and assist with wiring, programming, and commissioning.
