Job summary

Sterling Engineering in Buffalo, NY, seeks a Corporate Accountant for the month-end close on a 12-month, long-term contract. Hybrid role with three days onsite and two days remote per week.

The ideal candidate has strong general accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in Excel, SAP, or Oracle Hyperion. CPA is preferred; willingness to commit to the contract is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Relevant general accounting experience, including month-end close activities.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP, Oracle Hyperion, or another major ERP or financial reporting system preferred.
• Experience with international accounting, intercompany reconciliations, or multi-entity reporting is a plus.
• CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Ability to work onsite three days per week in Buffalo, NY, and remotely two days per week.
• Ability to commit to a 12-month contract assignment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries to support the monthly financial close.
• Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and assist with related reporting.
• Prepare close-related schedules, financial analyses, and reports.
• Research accounting activity and resolve discrepancies to ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
• Review international subsidiary financial activity and month-end close submissions.
• Assist with trial balance reviews and account mapping.
• Support intercompany reconciliations and related financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and regional finance teams to support an accurate and timely monthly close.
