Job summary

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting seeks an experienced Senior Accountant on a contract basis to support day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close in Columbia, MD. The role requires strong GL and close process skills, with attention to detail and clear communication with stakeholders.

Hybrid work arrangement: 2 days onsite in Columbia, MD and 3 days remote each week. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Strong general ledger accounting experience required.
• Experience with month-end close processes, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Ability to analyze financial results and identify variances.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for financial fluctuations.
• Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting.
• Maintain and support general ledger accounting functions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support accounting and finance initiatives as needed.
