Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Professional Staff Nurse, BSN, Expert for night shift duties in a full-time role. This RN will lead care delivery, mentor students and new nurses, and collaborate with physicians and teams to improve patient outcomes.

The position emphasizes leadership, quality improvement, and adherence to Relationship Based Care principles across the continuum of care, while supporting professional development and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Mentors students, graduate nurses, and new hires; analyzes clinical and behavioral situations to identify learning opportunities for improving patient care practices; regularly seeks feedback and supports continuous professional improvement.
• Applies the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment; formulates daily goals and a plan of care with the patient as partner, considering individual needs with holistic care.
• Builds and mends relationships among colleagues, models cultural awareness, prevents horizontal violence, and supports work-life balance through prioritization and delegation.
• Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement; applies evidence-based practice; serves on or leads teams that launch innovations in patient care.
• Serves as a role model of professional nursing practice; provides feedback, participates in peer review, and engages in shared governance to enhance care quality and unit environment.
• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors; performs other duties as assigned.
