Job summary

Morgan Hunt is seeking a Communication Support Worker with BSL Level 3 to assist deaf and hearing-impaired learners at an East London further education college. You will support access to lessons, materials and discussions, working closely with teaching staff to meet individual needs and promote inclusion.

The role requires Deaf awareness, DBS clearance and a collaborative, patient approach to enable learners to participate confidently in their education and college life.

Qualifications

• A BSL Level 3 qualification or above.
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired learners, ideally within education.
• An understanding of Deaf awareness and barriers to learning.
• Strong communication skills and a patient, adaptable approach.
• The ability to work collaboratively with learners and college staff.
• An Enhanced DBS and willingness to complete the required compliance checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide communication support using British Sign Language in lessons and other learning activities.
• Help learners access teaching materials, classroom discussions and instructions.
• Work closely with teaching and learning support teams to meet individual needs.
• Adapt your communication approach to learners' preferences.
• Encourage independence, participation and inclusion.
• Maintain professional boundaries and follow safeguarding procedures.
