Job summary

Eastern Kentucky University seeks a Staff Interpreter III to facilitate communication for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff on the Richmond Campus. The role supports academic and other activities with a high level of bilingual linguistic competency.

The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of directly related experience, with National Interpreting Certification and a Full Interpreting License; additional certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: A bachelor's degree is required.
• Experience: Three years of directly related experience is required.
• Licensure: National Interpreting Certification and Full Interpreting License required; additional certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• 90% - Provides Direct Interpreting Services; facilitates communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals and University and Personal contacts related to the individuals in both the public and the private sectors.
• 10% - Completes all other duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of the Department; maintains skills; ensures compliance with laws, policies and procedures.
