Job summary

City of Weslaco is seeking a Brush Collection Supervisor to oversee pickup and transportation of brush and bulky items throughout Weslaco. This role involves operating grapple brush trucks and other heavy equipment, resolving complaints, and ensuring efficient service delivery.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 3–5 years of related experience, and a CDL Class B (preferred). Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of related work experience preferred.
• CDL Class B license preferred but not required.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.
• Emergency Management and Incident Command training within 3 months of hire.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees pickup and transportation of brush, bulky items, and other solid refuse to keep areas clean and safe.
• Operates equipment including grapple brush trucks, backhoes, front end loaders, and utility tractors.
• Receives and resolves complaints about collection locations and guidelines.
• Handles inquiries from residents regarding brush pickup and ensures timely responses.
• Monitors efficiency of service methods and procedures.
• Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates division personnel.
• Oversees purchases for the brush collection division and quotes vendors.
• Enforces safety practices and provides training within the division.
• Maintains records of division activities and operations.
• Assists in preparing the department's operating budget for brush collection.
• Maintains regular attendance and on-time presence at work.
• May operate heavy machinery as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• May work beyond normal hours or on weekends.
