Job summary

City of Grand Rapids is seeking an Economic Development professional to support the application and approval process for Brownfield redevelopment and tax abatement programs. You will work closely with the Economic Development Department to advance city priorities and ensure projects align with funding requirements.

The role involves evaluating project proformas, coordinating with businesses and developers, and presenting at internal and public meetings, including Brownfield Redevelopment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, urban planning or related field.
• Three years of professional experience related to economic development.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supports the core programs of the Economic Development Department, including tax abatement programs.
• Evaluates project proformas to determine incentive support level.
• Collaborates with businesses and developers to align projects with City priorities.
• Responds to inquiries from applicants, other municipalities, and citizens regarding projects.
• Assists with budget formation and reporting for the department.
• Presents at internal and public meetings, including Brownfield Redevelopment Authority monthly meetings.
• Travels for work-related conferences and trainings as needed.
