Job summary

The Center for Justice Innovation in New York is seeking a Violence Interrupter Supervisor for the Save Our Streets Bronx Program. You will supervise a team, plan canvassing, and ensure documentation while intervening to prevent retaliation and shootings.

This full-time role focuses on community outreach, youth engagement, and collaboration with partners to reduce violence. Flexible schedule and strong teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Associates (or higher) with 3-4 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with the South Bronx/Mott Haven and Morrisania.
• Experience with at-risk youth and gang involvement; commitment to reducing violence.
• Knowledge of street sets, crews, gangs, and groups.
• Ability to communicate with high-risk youth.
• Comfort managing many tasks; ability to walk 30 blocks regularly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of Violence Interrupters in Morrisania, Bronx.
• Create canvassing schedules and ensure staff presence in the neighborhood.
• Ensure all data and documentation is completed by staff.
• Intervene in circumstances where gun violence is likely.
• Identify at-risk youth and assist them.
• Build relationships with residents, youth, and community groups.
• Conduct outreach to build strong relationships with youth and residents.
• Talk to residents about potential conflicts and help prevent them.
• Participate in organizing responses to shootings and increase visibility.
• Work with partners to identify and diffuse hot spots of violence.
• Maintain documentation of contacts with high-risk individuals.
• Ensure documentation is completed for shootings and prevented acts.
• Distribute educational materials and information about events.
• Attend trainings, meetings, and conferences; facilitate workshops.
• Communicate effectively with Supervisor and Team; perform other duties.
