Job summary

CAMBA is seeking a Violence Interrupter to support outreach, engagement, and support for community clients in Brooklyn. You will recruit clients, facilitate and attend community events, and work with case managers to help clients move toward self-sufficiency.

The role involves field work, flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and maintaining client files. A strong ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and to assess client needs is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Experience engaging with Brownsville community or similar communities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings and weekends.
• Subject to a criminal background check and random drug testing.
• No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for sexual assault, child abuse or domestic violence.

Responsibilities

• Reach out and market the program to the community via street outreach to recruit clients.
• Attend and help facilitate social/peer support events and meetings.
• Collaborate with case managers to help clients move toward self-sufficiency and advocate for themselves.
• Assist in creating and maintaining client files and related paperwork.
• Attend staff and external agency meetings as requested.
• Monitor client progress and document via progress notes and system entries.
