Job summary

The Center for Justice Innovation seeks a Violence Interrupter for the Save Our Streets Bronx Program in the South Bronx. You will intervene to prevent shootings, mediate conflicts, and connect residents with Outreach Workers. Strong ties to the South Bronx community and ability to engage youth are essential.

Applicants with experience in the criminal justice system or human services, and a commitment to reducing violence, are encouraged to apply. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Associates or higher in human services with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of the South Bronx Mott Haven and Morrisania area preferred.
• Experience with at-risk youth and gang involvement; commitment to violence prevention.

Responsibilities

• Intervene in situations likely to escalate into gun violence; prevent retaliation.
• Identify at-risk youth and assist with safe alternatives.
• Build relationships with residents, youth, and community groups.
• Conduct outreach and facilitate community events and workshops.
• Monitor hotspots for violence and coordinate with partners.
• Document contacts and report activities to supervisors.
