Job summary

East Side House Settlement is seeking a Student Advisor in Bronx, NY to support a caseload of 60–70 students with college and career readiness, academic progress monitoring, and social-emotional development.

You will collaborate with counselors and teachers, conduct intake interviews, manage attendance and progress, and help students navigate FAFSA and post-secondary plans. Proficiency with Salesforce and Google Suite is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience with youth at risk and/or in a school setting.
• Experience with counseling and knowledge of community resources.
• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with families and staff.
• Able to use public transportation and travel independently.
• Strong computer skills including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for a caseload of approximately 60–70 students.
• Conduct intake interviews with students and family members.
• Monitor attendance, academics, and social-emotional progress.
• Consult with guidance counselors on credits, graduation, and post-secondary plans.
• Refer students to academic and support services as needed.
• Attend meetings and trainings; participate in program activities.
• Lead workshops and groups for students; provide counseling support as needed.
• Document interactions in Salesforce, Google Suite, and other data systems.
