Job summary

Penske Entertainment, based at IMS Productions in Indianapolis, seeks a Broadcast Systems Engineer to support the operation, reliability, and performance of control and technical rooms for fixed and remote production workflows. The role requires hands-on leadership during live events and collaboration with clients and industry partners.

The engineer will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and oversee equipment, ensuring high-quality audio, video, and data signals, and will travel less frequently

Qualifications

  • Experience working with broadcast systems and equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex AV/IT systems.
  • Strong coordination and communication during live events.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing broadcast systems and equipment.
  • Maintaining IMSP control and technical rooms and ensuring systems are fully operational.
  • Establishing and quality-checking audio, video, and data signals from remote broadcast sites.
  • Supporting Indianapolis-based streaming and transmission equipment.
  • Leading technical crews on-site and assisting with IMSP-owned and rented equipment.
  • Supporting production teams with event set-up and execution.
  • Reviewing remote equipment orders and resolving discrepancies before events.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and preparing post-event technical reports.
  • Coordinating equipment shipping and receiving at the IMSP field shop.
  • Monitoring broadcast technology trends and recommending equipment, parts, and capital needs.
  • Serving as IMSP’s on-site engineering representative while building relationships with clients and partners.

Help power the broadcast technology behind INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Penske Entertainment is seeking a Broadcast Systems Engineer to join IMS Productions in Indianapolis. This hands‑on position supports the technology that brings INDYCAR and IMS events to audiences around the world.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Engineering, the Broadcast Systems Engineer is responsible for the operation, reliability, and performance of IMSP’s control and technical rooms. This role supports fixed‑facility and remote production workflows, provides technical leadership during live events, and helps ensure complex broadcast systems perform at the highest level when it matters most.

Key responsibilities
  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing broadcast systems and equipment.
  • Maintaining IMSP control and technical rooms and ensuring systems are fully operational.
  • Establishing and quality‑checking audio, video, and data signals from remote broadcast sites.
  • Supporting Indianapolis‑based streaming and transmission equipment.
  • Leading technical crews on‑site and assisting with IMSP‑owned and rented equipment.
  • Supporting production teams with event set‑up and execution.
  • Reviewing remote equipment orders and resolving discrepancies before events.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and preparing post‑event technical reports.
  • Coordinating equipment shipping and receiving at the IMSP field shop.
  • Monitoring broadcast technology trends and recommending equipment, parts, and capital needs.
  • Serving as IMSP’s on‑site engineering representative while building strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry partners.

This position is primarily based at the IMS Productions facility in Indianapolis. Extended hours may be required during race weekends and other major events, particularly during May. Limited travel may also be required.
