Arkansas State University seeks a Reporter/Host responsible for creating and delivering accurate news content. Position Summary:
The Reporter/Host is responsible for creating and delivering accurate, engaging news content across platforms. This role includes producing stories, hosting local newscasts, conducting interviews, and contributing to special coverage, station events, and fundraising efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the oversight and direction of the News Director, the Reporter/Host will
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of Federal Communication Commission (FCC) rules and regulations relating to broadcasting
Knowledge of broadcast station operations and procedures
Knowledge of audio recording, production, and editing techniques and procedures
Knowledge of the operation and basic maintenance requirements of broadcast and recording equipment
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00am-5:00pm
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Due to the nature of news and the needs of the station, actual working hours will often fall outside traditional hours.

The successful candidate will have:
-Experience with or understanding of journalism and news reporting principles and practices
-General knowledge of basic rules and regulations relating to broadcasting
-Experience with or understanding of principles of storytelling across multiple platforms
-Strong writing and copy-editing skills
-Ability to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
-Willingness to present diverse voices and diverse perspectives, especially those from groups that are not often equitably represented in news coverage
-Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for news reporting, and to work some non-standard hours when needed
-Excellent communication and active listening skills
-Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
Practical experience in journalism through employment or internships is beneficial.
Other job-related education and/or experience may be considered for all or parts of these basic requirements.
