Job summary

KVLY is looking for a meteorologist to join our award-winning First Alert Weather Team. This role collaborates with the Chief Meteorologist, news managers and producers to deliver comprehensive weather coverage for newscasts, streaming updates, digital and social content, and severe weather coverage.

You will analyze data to create accurate forecasts, present them conversationally across broadcast and digital platforms, and communicate the weather story of the day to a cross-platform audience.

Qualifications

BS/BA in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Communications or Journalism or equivalent.
2+ years of broadcast meteorology experience preferred.
Proficiency with radar systems and digital content production.

Responsibilities

Analyze raw scientific data, models, and other available information to create an accurate weather forecast for the viewing area.
Create a compelling, conversational presentation of the forecast for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
Identify and communicate the weather story of the day to a cross-platform audience.
Forecast and track severe weather accurately.
