Job summary

KOLO-TV/Gray Media seeks an IT and Broadcast engineer to troubleshoot, maintain, and install broadcast and network equipment in the Reno area. The role requires supporting breaking news, reading schematics, and maintaining various IT and automation systems.

The candidate should have broadcasting technology experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work odd hours and on-call shifts. A valid driver’s license is required, with potential for growth in a dynamic media environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Working knowledge of video/audio systems and IP-based broadcast technology.
• Working knowledge of News and Television Automation systems.
• Customer-focused problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated and able to see projects through to the end.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Oral and written communication skills are mandatory.
• SBE and/or IT certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair broadcast and network equipment.
• Troubleshoot audio, video, and network issues with test equipment.
• Monitor quality standards and interpret test data to take action.
• Read and interpret schematic drawings; interpolate information.
• IT duties including maintenance and repair of computers and networks.
• Work odd hours including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• May be on-call for after-hours support.
• Support breaking news gathering on short notice.
• Be a team player and also capable of working alone.
• Assist with facilities maintenance (HVAC, electrical, security).
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Technology Management.
