Gray Media's KOLN/KSNB-TV in Hastings, NE seeks a Media Systems Engineer to be the technological heartbeat of our central and western Nebraska stations. You’ll maintain tower sites, ensure live streams hit audiences, and keep our communities connected and informed.

You’ll lead on air readiness, support studios and field crews, and navigate FCC/FAA requirements while driving modernization of our broadcast infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Engineering or electronics degree (or equivalent) with 2–3 years in the broadcast or professional tech world.
• Digital fluency with IP‑based video/audio transport and streaming technologies.
• When On Air, stay calm and focused under pressure.
• Detail‑oriented with a strategic, proactive mindset.
• Strong communication to explain complex tech to non‑technical staff.
• Road warrior with clean driving record; willing to travel across Nebraska properties.

Responsibilities

• Master the infrastructure: Maintain and evolve broadcast systems across Hastings, Grand Island, North Platte, and every tower site in between.
• Drive technical innovation: Execute a strategic plan to keep technology modern, digital‑first, and ahead of the curve.
• Support the storytellers: Provide engineering for studios, post‑editing suites, and field production teams.
• Own the live moment: Ensure gear readiness for live broadcasts and streaming events.
• Stay compliant and sharp: Manage FCC/FAA regulatory requirements for tech components.
• Monitor the pulse: Oversee multiple air channels and transmitters to ensure high‑quality, HD output.
• Bridge the IT gap: Maintain servers and desktop OS to keep news gathering and graphics systems running.
