Job summary

Beaufort County Community College seeks a part-time AV facilitator reporting to the Director of Library and advised by the Coordinator of AV Services. The role requires flexibility, willingness to be trained, open-minded, fair, and able to work in confined spaces; some movement across campus may be required.

The position is 10 months, 18-25 hours per week on the Main Campus. You will facilitate video conferencing, operate AV equipment, and support distance education in NCIH classrooms.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to be coached in NCIH or other video-conferencing platforms.
  • Excellent technology skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding AV installation work (ladders, crawling, bending, kneeling, overhead reaching).
  • Ability to lift and install AV equipment up to 50 pounds, using hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate video conferencing by setting up, using, and participating in NCIH classroom sessions.
  • Operate video-conferencing equipment and other equipment at distance education sites.
  • Assist with pre-session and on-air session tasks and post-session debriefing.
  • Provide records and information to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Maintain stationary position for extended periods.
  • Occasionally traverse control rooms/classrooms to provide instructional support.
  • Occasionally lift or move items up to 30 pounds.
  • Maintain regular on-site attendance for NCIH equipment operation.
  • Handle incoming calls and video conference calls.
  • Cross-train in library duties as needed.

Job description

Part-time staff position reports to the Director of Library and is advised by the Coordinator of AV Services. This person will need to demonstrate evidence of a work ethic that includes flexibility and willingness to be trained; be open-minded, fair, and able to see multiple perspectives. Facilitator will work in closed spaces for lengths of time, although some movement across campus may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to safely lift, carry, position, and install AV equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and use hand and power tools, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree
1-2 years experience in camera/AV work
Classroom familiarity

Part-time position scheduled to work up to 25 hours per week for the academic year. This position reports to the Director of the Library and will perform a variety of technical duties related to the operation of NCIH broadcast classes.

  • Facilitate video conferencing by setting up, using, controlling, and participating in NCIH classroom sessions.
  • Operate video-conferencing equipment and other equipment associated with distance education classroom sites.
  • Assist with managing tasks associated with video operations such as: pre-session activities prior to and during network time, on-air session responsibilities, and after-session debriefing.
  • Assist with providing all necessary records and information needed to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Maintain stationary position, sitting or standing, for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally traverse the NCIH control room and/or classrooms to provide instructional support.
  • Occasionally lift, move, transport, install, or remove items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Maintain regular and consistent on-site attendance for operation of NCIH equipment.
  • Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls.
  • Follow instructions and stay focused on task.
  • Cross-train in library as needed depending on NCIH scheduling.
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
