Job summary

Shop LC, based in Austin, TX, seeks a Director of Broadcast Engineering to lead the broadcast team and own the end-to-end broadcast signal chain, ensuring uptime, quality, and regulatory compliance across TV, OTT, and live-commerce platforms.

The role involves capital planning for cameras, switchers, servers, RF/satellite systems, and IT convergence, with collaboration across Production, IT, and executive leadership to enable scalable, secure, and modern broadcast operations.

Qualifications

• Typically 10+ years in broadcast/media engineering with 3–5 years in a supervisory/management capacity.
• Track record managing teams in live production, master control, or transmission systems.
• Experience with capital budgeting and vendor negotiation.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or Broadcast Technology (hands-on acceptable).
• Strong communication to translate technical issues to executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead Broadcast Engineering team and oversee uptime, audio/video quality, FCC compliance, and disaster recovery.
• Own capital planning and budget for broadcast infrastructure.
• Serve as liaison between engineering, production, IT, and executive leadership.
• Ensure 24/7 broadcast reliability; manage outages and root-cause analysis.
• Set technology roadmap (IP migration, cloud playout, cybersecurity).
• Oversee vendor contracts and equipment life-cycle management.
• Lead incident response and corrective actions after major incidents.
