Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Broadcast Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and operating the technical equipment used in television, streaming, and other broadcasting platforms. This role requires a combination of engineering expertise and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and ensure the smooth operation of all broadcast systems, including audio, video, and transmission technology.

General Duties/Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and repair broadcast equipment, including 2110 routers, transmitters, receivers, video switchers, servers, audio consoles, and editing equipment.
  • Monitor broadcast signals and equipment to ensure uninterrupted transmission and high-quality output.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize downtime during live broadcasts.
  • Collaborate with production teams to understand technical requirements and ensure equipment is configured for optimal performance.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and calibration of broadcast systems and equipment.
  • Manage and support the installation of new equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and network specifications.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of technical procedures, maintenance schedules, and equipment status.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support during live broadcasts or production events.
  • Stay updated on emerging broadcast technologies and industry trends.
  • Tunes and trouble-shoots various types of satellite and fiber decoders.
  • Assists operations with training related to audio and video equipment use and their adjustments.
  • Collaboration with operations and production teams to problem solve.
  • Ensures a clean and dust free environment in all technical areas. Maintains the integrity of the system wiring and documentation
  • Provides input in network planning, engineering, architecture and the development of technical standards for video over IP.
  • Provides support for resolution of broadcast master control problems.
  • Strong focus on broadcast infrastructure and video routing.
  • Installs and configures broadcast equipment as needed.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Establishes trust within the team based on performance and availability; willing to extend outside of defined tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company Engineering and Information Technology practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a Broadcast Engineer or in a similar technical role within the broadcasting industry.
  • Proficient with broadcast equipment, video/audio editing software, and transmission systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure, especially during live events.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and technical standards (e.g., FCC compliance).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Industry-standard certifications and training.
  • Advanced analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of various diagnostic tools troubleshooting techniques.
  • Demonstrates high level of customer focus
  • Ability to develop solutions during root-cause analysis.
  • Functional understanding of TCP/IP protocols, network design and maintenance practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with network infrastructure, IT systems, and automation systems in a broadcast environment.
  • Familiarity with digital and IP-based broadcast systems.
  • Certification from industry organizations such as SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers) is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment during live broadcasts.
  • Physical demands may include lifting heavy equipment and standing for long periods.
  • Availability for on-call duties and the flexibility to work irregular hours as necessary.
