Job summary

Mediacom Communications seeks a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician) in Illinois to install cable TV and broadband services and represent Mediacom in customers’ homes. You will drive a company van, perform installations, service changes, outlet additions, and handle special requests with safety in mind.

As a frontline installer, you’ll work with field tools, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• General mechanical knowledge and ability to use hand tools.
• Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work in high or tight spaces and in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) from tap to terminals.
• Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnections; add outlets; install/remove converters; upgrades/downgrades.
• Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability after installation.
• Use tools and follow safe work practices; read signal levels with field strength meter.
• Drive company vehicle and perform maintenance; complete paperwork as prescribed.
• Inform customers of FCC rules and company policies.
• Generate additional revenue through product options and promotions.
