Job summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking a Bridge Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to join our structures group in Des Moines. You will lead design and analysis of bridges, coordinate with clients and internal teams, and mentor junior staff.

The role requires PE licensure, proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD, and strong communication skills to coordinate multi-disciplinary projects across the Midwest. Salary ranges from 90k to 125k with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of Bridge and Structures experience.
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Proficiency in bridge design software and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong project management and client communication skills.
• Established industry relationships and proposal experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete analysis and design of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls and box culverts.
• Lead the preparation of plans, reports and specifications; coordinate formats with CDOT/NDOT/SDDOT/IADOT.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to define goals and deliverables; ensure clear communication throughout the design process.
• Attend meetings, present solutions, and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in team development.
• Work with transportation, environmental, and planning teams on multi-disciplinary projects.
