Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer/Inspector to contribute to bridge design and inspection projects across Maryland, Virginia, and DC. You will develop design calculations, plans, and cost estimates while mentoring under a senior engineer.

The role offers field and office work with travel within the MD/VA/DC area, involving inspections and report writing. A PE license or EIT and relevant experience are preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of bridge inspection experience; bridge design experience a plus.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 1 year is highly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record; E.I.T. license required.
• Bridge inspection and design experience in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia is desired.
• FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection training preferred.
• Ability to travel within the MD/VA/DC area.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Bridge design and inspection projects for DOTs and municipalities in MD, VA, DC; may include rail projects.
• Prepare design calculations, plans, CAD drafting, and construction cost estimates; assist PM with provisions and specs.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs under guidance of a senior engineer.
• Evaluate existing structures and develop load ratings.
• Prepare engineering reports and technical studies; assist on roadway/site civil design.
• Perform bridge inspections and prepare inspection reports.
