Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation—Delivery & Operations Division, Region 4, Maintenance Crew in Klamath Falls—seeks a Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2 (Bridge Maintenance Specialist) to operate heavy equipment, repair bridges, and respond to weather-related emergencies on roadways and structures. The role includes inspecting structures, scaffolding, and occasional overnight travel.

Minimum qualifications include one year of highway maintenance or two years related experience, plus CDL-A

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work; OR two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• CDL-A with tanker endorsement required within 30 days of hire; valid U.S. driver license with acceptable driving record; tanker endorsement upon hire or within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain, repair, reconstruct and strengthen bridges and culverts.
• Construct and place rigging and scaffolding; perform concrete demolition, masonry, steel work, woodwork and painting.
• Perform inspections of structures for repairs; assist with weather related emergencies; operate snowplows and deicer trucks.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching; clear debris and vegetation; maintain drainage systems and repair culverts.
• Travel and stay out of town for overnight travel; may be required after hours for emergency call-outs.
