Denver Rescue Mission's Bridge Residential Counselor role provides individual and educational residential counseling for the Bridge Transitional and Emergency Programs. The counselor supports participants' stability and wellbeing while they progress through the programs.

• Strong social and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to obtain CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.
• Person-centered philosophy; initiative; multi-tasking; diversity.
• Active driver's license and insurability, some travel may be required.
• Must be a Christian holding to the organization's Statement of Faith.

Hiring Range: $27.68 - $33.21 hourly, based on qualifications and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bridge Residential Counselor provides individual and educational residential counseling for the programs at The Crossing. The Residential Counselor supports program participants’ stability and wellbeing while in the Bridge Transitional and Emergency Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedules and completes documentation of all weekly sessions of an assigned caseload of approximately 25-30 individuals and families (for Full-Time) in the Bridge Programs (Transitional and Emergency).
• Facilitates assigned weekly education sessions.
• Completes assigned assessments for individuals and families in the Bridge Programs (Transitional and Emergency).
• Provides one-on-one milieu counseling as necessary in addition to assigned caseload.
• Develops appropriate, measurable Stability Plans for assigned caseload.
• Collaborates with Care Team and associated staff, providing strategy for participants’ stability. Follows-up on Information Reports for participants.
• Maintains participant confidentiality in accordance with Denver Rescue Mission policy.
• Makes referrals to appropriate internal and external resources to support participants’ stability goals.
• Collaborates with case management to facilitate positive participant transitions to more stable housing.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work or a helping field of study.
• Prior experience preferred in programmatic residential settings serving individuals and families – preferably with populations who have experienced homelessness, addictive behavior and general family challenges.
• Strong social and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of hire (training provided).
• Mandatory Reporter Training required within 30 days of hire (training provided).
• Must have a person-centered philosophy, take initiative, multi-task, and work with a diverse population.
• Active Driver’s License and ability to meet DRM insurability standards, as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required.
• Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
