Job summary

HNTB Des Moines is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead bridge-related projects, primarily for Iowa DOT and local municipalities. You will drive scope, schedule, and budget across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results.

The role emphasizes strong client relationships, risk management, and the ability to navigate procurement and contract negotiations within a large design firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience.
• 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.
• Experience with Iowa DOT and/or local municipal clients is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
• Develops project scope and fee quotation and assists in technical proposals and contracts.
• Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
• Leads the development and execution of the project management plan and mentors the team.
• Oversees staffing, recruitment, development, retention and performance reviews.
