Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) in Wall Township, NJ is seeking a Project Engineer to support the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects, including bridges across New Jersey. The role offers hands-on experience across preliminary design to construction support with mentorship and growth potential.

Ideal candidates have 5–8 years in bridge design and hold a PE license, with proficiency in LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, and STAAD, plus AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• 5–8 years of progressive experience in bridge design and structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridge and transportation-related structures, including new construction, rehabilitation, and replacement projects
• Prepare engineering calculations, design plans, technical reports, specifications, and other project documentation
• Develop structural models and perform analysis using bridge design software such as LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, STAAD, or similar programs
• Assist with bridge load rating analyses and structural evaluations
• Support project delivery efforts by coordinating design activities, tracking project requirements, and assisting with schedules and deliverables
• Collaborate with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental, and construction engineering teams to support integrated project solutions
• Apply AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, NJDOT standards, and applicable local agency requirements to engineering designs
• Participate in field visits, bridge inspections, and data collection activities to support design and construction assignments
• Review design documents for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements
• Assist senior engineers with technical guidance, mentoring of junior staff, and development of engineering solutions
• Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and other business development activities as needed
