This role involves producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will consult with the project manager to conduct research, develop designs, perform calculations, and deliver project components. Your responsibilities include applying engineering techniques and design criteria, addressing design issues through creative problem solving, collaborating with clients, and completing tasks on schedule. You will develop conceptual and detailed designs using current tools and software. Mentoring and reviewing junior staff work may also be part of your duties, contributing to successful project delivery across diverse projects for HNTB’s clients.

What You'll Do:

1. Plan and distribute discipline-specific work, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
2. Assist in marketing efforts, including proposal generation.
3. Develop scope of work and effort estimates for projects within your discipline.
4. Ensure the completeness and accuracy of the project team’s work, guiding and mentoring team members.
5. Coordinate technical aspects with clients and partners at the staff level.
6. Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or
2. Master’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
3. PhD in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience.

What You'll Bring:

1. Experience leading bridge, retaining wall, and other structure designs on transportation projects in the New Jersey office.
2. Ability to develop project design criteria, calculations, details, quantities, and estimates.
3. Experience preparing and reviewing design drawings and specifications.
4. Skills in cost and quality control within your discipline.
5. Problem-solving skills for design and field engineering challenges, with schedule coordination.
6. Ability to coordinate efforts of the design team for accuracy and completeness.
7. Experience serving as a task lead during planning and design phases.

What We Prefer:

1. Experience in bridge and transportation structure design.
2. Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and AASHTO Seismic Guide Specifications.
3. Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
