Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a General Highway Maintenance Worker to perform bridge maintenance and operate maintenance equipment across statewide projects.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or an approved equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
• CDL within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform general highway maintenance and operate heavy equipment (backhoe, mini excavator, lowboy) to repair bridge deficiencies.
• Conduct bridge maintenance activities and related tasks using tools like saws, hoists, power tools, and welders.
• Place traffic control devices to set up a maintenance work zone per the SCDOT manual and field guide.
