Job summary

The Department of Transportation – New York City Division of Bridges is seeking an Area Supervisor (Highway Maintenance) II to oversee a borough, multi-borough, or citywide bridge preventive maintenance operation. You will supervise crews, assign work locations, monitor progress and quality, and prepare reports for citywide maintenance activities.

Hours include night shifts; residency requirements apply; this is a civil service role with benefits, a defined benefit pension, commuter programs,

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance and repair.
• Two years of which must have been in supervisory capacity.
• To be assigned to Assignment Level II, at least one year of experience in Assignment Level I or equivalent, with three years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise borough, multi-borough, or citywide bridge maintenance operations.
• Assign work locations, monitor progress and quality, and maintain records.
• Oversee emergencies, snow operations, and related maintenance tasks.
• Prepare and review reports for maintenance crews and project sites.
