Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, seeks an Area Supervisor II (Highway Maintenance) to oversee a borough, multi-borough, or citywide bridge preventive maintenance operation. You will supervise crews, assign work locations, monitor progress and quality, and maintain records.

Night shifts may be required. Location is 4200 Vernon Blvd, LIC, Queens, with hours 8:30 PM–5:00 AM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience in roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Class B Commercial Driver License valid in NY with no air brake restrictions.
• Assignment Level II requires at least one year in Assignment Level I or an extra year as described above, with at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
• New York City residency may be required within 90 days of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a borough, multi-borough, or citywide bridge preventive maintenance operation.
• Assign work locations, monitor progress and quality, and compile reports.
• Respond to emergencies and oversee snow operations as part of the anti-icing program.
• Keep job records and visit each field crew at least once per shift.
