Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid Class A CDL with no air brake restriction and interstate status.
• Possibility of welder certification in overhead position.
• Five years' experience in roadway or bridge maintenance.
• Must pass cardiopulmonary function test yearly and respirator fit testing every six months.
• Work simulation exam and medical-physical examination required.

Responsibilities

• Lead crew in routine maintenance/repair and emergency bridge repairs.
• Oversee painting and surface cleaning of bridges, scaffolding and safety lines setup.
• Train employees in traffic control, flagging, safety and equipment operation.
• Transport crew, equipment, and materials to job sites.
• Set up traffic control devices and perform flagging in work zones.

• Leads crew in routine maintenance/repair and emergency repairs of bridges, including setting falsework to support bridge to carry traffic while repairs are performed.
• Leads crew in the painting and surface cleaning of structural steel bridges, the hanging of scaffolds and safety lines, and the handling and transporting of hazardous waste.
• Trains or assists in training employees in work zone set up, proper flagging techniques, traffic control procedures, personal safety, and equipment operation.
• Operates vehicles to transport crew, equipment, and materials to job site.
• Sets up or ensures the correct set up of traffic control devices such as signs, flags, cones, and arrow boards; performs flagging responsibilities for traffic through work zone.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restriction and interstate status (either Excepted Interstate [EI] or Non-Excepted Interstate [NI]).
• Employee will be required to pass a cardiopulmonary function test yearly, attend training on the use of respirators, and pass a respirator fit test every six months.
• May require certification as a welder in the overhead position and appropriate methods.
• Five years of experience in roadway or bridge maintenance.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
