Job summary

Metro Associates is seeking a Bridge Inspector INDOT to support the structural inspection team across the Midwest and grow into leadership of inspection efforts on transportation projects for public-sector clients.

The role requires PE licensure or active pursuit, ABET-accredited degree with EIT, and 3+ years in bridge work. Strong data skills, field readiness, and willingness to travel are essential for progression to a Team Leader position.

Qualifications

• PE license preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited program with EIT certification.
• 3+ years of bridge design, construction, or maintenance experience if no degree.
• Familiarity with state-level bridge inspection standards is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to work in field environments, including uneven terrain and active job sites.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel, including overnight assignments.
• Interest in advancing to Bridge Inspection Team Leader role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field-based bridge inspections, including documentation, data collection, and report preparation.
• Maintain and organize inspection equipment, coordinate schedules, and support team logistics.
• Progress into a leadership role overseeing on-site inspection activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including roadway, water resources, environmental, survey, and utility professionals.
• Ensure accurate data entry and compliance with inspection standards and reporting requirements.
